The Book Engine
How AI is used here
Last updated September 2026
The Book Engine is a human-reviewed editorial production service with a private AI engine behind it. This page says plainly what the AI does, what it is not allowed to do, and where the humans are.
What the engine does
- Reads your manuscript and builds a structured index of its ideas, stories, frameworks, statistics, and quotations — each one anchored to the exact passage it came from.
- Builds a voice profile from your pages: your register, rhythm, and rhetorical habits.
- Drafts the content families you selected, writing only from that indexed material, against that voice profile.
What it is not allowed to do
- Invent. Quotations must be literal text from your book — they are string-checked against your manuscript before they are stored. Figures and claims that don't trace back to your pages are flagged for a human, not written around.
- Train on your book. Generation runs on Anthropic's Claude API under commercial terms that do not permit customer inputs to be used for model training. Your manuscript teaches the engine nothing about anyone else's package, and no one else's book touches yours.
- Ship unreviewed. The engine cannot deliver. Its final act is to hand a complete, source-traced package to a human reviewer.
Where the humans are
Every package is read by a human before release. Flagged items — anything the engine could not verify against your manuscript — are sorted to the top of that review and resolved or removed before delivery. You are told what was flagged.
Your role
You are the author of record. Human review catches a great deal, but you should read what you publish under your own name — the package is delivered in editable formats precisely so you can make it fully yours.
